Vickery Family Sketches

In the 1870 United States census of Jackson Township, Douglas County, Missouri, enumerated on 26 July 1870, Lavina is listed as the daughter in the household headed by Calvin and her mother was Matilda. The name was spelled Vickrie in this census.

In the 1850 United States census of Van Buren and Benton Townships, Newton County, Missouri, Calvin is listed with apparent siblings Selina, age 15, Ewing, age 13, and Clarinda, age 7. His mother is apparently Rebecca; she is listed as age 47 and Calvin is listed as age 23.

Calvin Vickery enlisted in the Union Army, 46th Regiment of the Missouri Infantry, on August 9, 1864, at Marshfield, Missouri, for a period of six months. His rank was Private. His service started on September 7, 1964, at Springfield, Missouri. When he mustered out on March 31, 1865, he was due $6.72 for clothing.

He was described as having light hair, blue eyes, and a fair complexion. He was 6 feet tall. During the censuses of 1850, 1860, and 1870, Calvin and his family lived in and around Webster County, Missouri. He was a farmer.
