Vassar Family Sketches

Levi Vassar was a farmer, born in January 1853, who was living in Latah County, Idaho, when his son, George G. Vassar was born in 1884. George registered for the draft in September 1918 and he was married to his wife, Margaret, at that time. According to other census records, they had four sons, Clifton, Marion, Morris, and Donald Raymond, the youngest who was born in 1923.

George and his family moved to California sometime between 1920 and 1930, because they were living in Long Beach at the time of the 1930 United States Census. He was working in the oil fields at that time.

George's youngest son, Donald, was in the US Air Force. He retired from the Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel. He served during World War II, Korea and Vietnam.
