W. Hans Freienmuth

TONGANOXIE -- Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the First Congregational Church here for W. Hans Freienmuth, 83, Tonganoxie, who died Friday at a Leavenworth hospital.

He was born Oct. 15, 1896, at Tonganoxie, the son of William and Eda Fischer Freienmuth, and spent all his life in Tonganoxie. He was graduated from Tonganoxie grade and high schools and attended Kansas State Agricultural College, Manhattan, majoring in agronomy and horticulture.

Mr. Freienmuth was a farmer and Tonganoxie heating and plumbing contractor.

He was a member of First Congregational Church, Farm Bureau, Grange, Tonganoxie Historical Society, past patron and member of Rinda Chapter No. 82 of the Order of Eastern Star, twice past master and member of Henri Lodge No. 190, AF&AM, president of Maple Grove Cemetery Association for 30 years and board member of Tonganoxie Unified School District, all at Tonganoxie. He also was a member of Leavenworth County Historical Society and Leavenworth County Fair Board.

He married Lela Walters April 6, 1919, at Tonganoxie. She survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Shirley Kasper, Tonganoxie; a son, Leland Freienmuth, Laytonville, MD.; five grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery Tonganoxie. Mr. Freienmuth will lie in state after 5 p.m. today at Quisenberry Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to First Congregational Church.
