Dies In Texas

Elise Margaretha Freienmuth, 87, a native of Switzerland who had immigrated to the United States about 50 years ago. was buried in the Pettus cemetery Tuesday afternoon, January 17, following funeral services at the home of a niece, Mrs. E. Gremmel of Pettus, at 4 o'clock that afternoon. Rev. Otto Frangmeyer, pastor of Peace Lutheran church of Beeville, officiated at the ceremony.

Active pallbearers were Tom Clingingsmith, Conrad Saegert, James Green, John Medley and John Hartzendorf. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Galloway Mortuary.

Miss Freienmuth was born in Switzerland October 4, 1851, the daughter of William and Susanne (Spiri) Freienmuth. Well educated, she spent the greater part of her active life as a governess, coming to America about 50 years ago. She first settled at Houston, Texas, but later made her home at Seguin with a brother, Edward Freienmuth. After his death in 1907 she moved to San Antonio but about 13 years ago she again moved, this time to Pettus, where she lived with Mrs. E. Gremmel.

She died Tuesday morning, January 17, at Pettus as the result of infirmities attendant to old age.

Surviving are five nieces, Mrs. O. D. Rudeloff of Beeville, Mr. E. Gremmel of Pettus, Mrs. James McElroy of Center Point, Miss Alma Freienmuth of Leavenworth, Kansas, and Mrs. Uriel Harling of Tonganoxie, Kansas; four nephews, Ernest Freienmuth of Chicago, Ernest Freienmuth of Cleveland, Ohio, Hans Freienmuth of Tonganoxie, Kansas, and Emil Freienmuth of Topeka, Kansas.
