Idol

Edward Idol, son of Joseph M. and Nancy Jane Idol, was born at Walla Walla, Washington territory, Jan. 15, 1862, died at his home in Albuquerque, N.M., on June 4, 1938, at the age of 76 years, 4 months.

Mr. Idol was just a young man when he came with his parents to White Cloud, Kans., in 1867. He received his early education in the district school. When he was 21 he went to western Kansas where he went into the cattle business, but after a year or so he sold out his interests, returned to eastern Kansas and entered into the cattle-farming business with his father. Dec. 19, 1895, he was united in marriage to Ida Weathers, of White Cloud. To this union was born Margaret May who died March 4, 1919. Mr. and Mrs. Idol lived in the vicinity of Roys Creek for a number of years, where, by economy, thrift, hard work they owned 9 80s of land in one body. When their daughter reached hi school age he built a beautiful home on Second Street, Hiawatha, Kans. His daughter Margaret attended hi school until her death.

Mr. Idol was considered one of the most successful farmers, stockmen in Brown county, always interested in everything for the improvement, betterment of local, state, national conditions. On account of poor health he was induced to go to New Mexico where he has lived the last 3 years.

Those who survive are his widow; 2 sisters, Mrs. E. N. Wilson, of Albuquerque, Mrs. F.M. Pearl, of Hiawatha; one brother, Frank Idol, of Robinson; a number of nieces-nephews. The funeral services were held from the home of his sister, Mrs. F. M. Pearl, Wednesday afternoon at 3:30, June 8, conducted by Rev. L. L. Hassenpflug. "Face to Face," "Lead Kindly Light" were sung by Chester Jones with Miss Nell Zimmerman at the piano. Mrs. Golda Idol, Miss Nell Zimmerman had charge of the flowers. The bodybearers were Milward Idol, of Robinson, Charles Idol of White Cloud, Madison Idol, of Falls City, Nebr., Emil Freienmuth, of Topeka, Sutro Pearl, of Hiawatha. Burial in Mt. Hope cemetery, Hiawatha.
