A Fatal Accident.

James McCoy a prominent farmer of Capioma township, on last Saturday started for Sabetha to do some trading and on his way a few miles, came to a new bridge across a branch of Cedar creek. It is supposed the horse refused to go across but backed down the narrow embankment, finally landing in the ditch in the mud. When found the horse was on his back in the mud, while the remains of Mr. McCoy were found under the wire fence a few feet away as if he had crawled out of the wrecked buggy and tried to get away from the horse's hoofs, but had soon died. Some neighbors soon arrived, got the horse out of the ditch, laid the dead man out in the pasture, and sent for the coroner, Dr. B. F. Herring, who held an inquest. The deceased was 66 years old and had lived here many years.
