Harriet Ann Ferrell

Harriet Ann Ferrell was born on January 29, 1856, in Annapolis, Ohio, and passed away at her home in Pawnee City, Nebraska, September 27, 1940, aged 84 years, 8 months, and 27 days.

On February 25, 1875, she was united in marriage to James Mason Story at Springfield, Ohio, and to this union ten children were born.

Following their marriage they lived on a farm near Annapolis, Ohio, for six years. They came to Nebraska in 1881, living on a farm near Pawnee City for 15 years. In 1897 they moved to a farm near the Kansas-Nebraska line where they resided for five years. Then they moved to the vicinity of Lewiston, Nebraska which was their home for 25 years. In 1929, they retired from the farm and moved to Pawnee City which has been their home ever since.

Mrs. Story was a member of the Methodist church, and so long as she was able, attended its services and gave her support. In her younger days she was a very active worker, and in later years never lost her interest in the church, being one of the most faithful and devoted members. She had a very sweet personality and lived a consistent Christian life, proving her faith by the sincerity of her works. She was a lively and devoted mother, and because of her example and influence, her children will "rise up to call her blessed". Her whole life verified that she walked with God and now God has taken her to her home on high, where she will bask in the sunshine of His presence, and be at rest.

She is survived by eight children, Mrs. Lola Kelley, Colony, Kansas; Charles L. Story, Oneida, Kansas; Francis Marion Story, Pawnee City, Nebraska; Harry M. Story, DuBois, Nebraska; Mrs. Mary Wenzl, Vermillion, Kansas; Mrs. Bertha Miller, Beatrice, Nebraska; Mrs. Ethyle Heywood, Ballantine, Montana; and Josephine H. Story, Detroit, Michigan. Her husband and two children preceded her in death.

The funeral service was held at the Methodist church Sunday afternoon, Rev. W. N. Wallis officiating. Burial was in the Pawnee City cemetery.
